A Radio Postcard Journey - 60

A die-cut postcard design by P. Jagadeeshwaran, printed by The Postcards Originals, captures the iconic architecture of All India Radio (AIR) in commemoration of World Radio Day, observed annually on February 13th.

The postcard features a stylized depiction of the Akashwani Bhavan building, the headquarters of AIR in New Delhi. Established in 1936 and officially known as All India Radio since 1957, AIR is India's national public radio broadcaster, operating under Prasar Bharati. The text "WORLD RADIO DAY FEBRUARY 13" is prominently displayed on the postcard, highlighting the global celebration of radio as a powerful medium.

The accompanying text on the postcard emphasizes AIR's significant role as the "Voice from the sky," a state-owned public radio broadcaster under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

This artistic postcard serves as a visual tribute to the enduring legacy of radio and the pivotal role All India Radio has played in the country's media landscape.

A Radio Postcard Journey - 38

This maxi postcard from Australia! It features the Kriesler Master Multi Sonic radiogram from 1966, a true icon of Australian home entertainment. From the 1950s to the 1970s, radiograms like this were the heart of many Aussie homes, combining radio and record player into one stylish unit.

This particular model, captured beautifully in Melissa Webb's photograph, reminds us of a time when gathering around to listen to music or the radio was a shared experience. The postcard also includes stamps from the recent issue commemorating these classic machines, highlighting the $1.20 denomination and the intricate design by Jo Muré.

It's fascinating to learn about the evolution of these devices, from valve amplifiers to transistorized models, and the shift from mono to stereo sound. A real piece of Australian nostalgia, celebrating a golden era of local manufacturing and the enduring appeal of vinyl records!

A Radio Postcard Journey - 20

📻 Blast from the Soviet Past! 📻

Check out this awesome postcard from the "More Quality Goods!" series, featuring a 1979 Soviet advertising poster! This postcard sent by Tatyana from Russia🚀

"TRUE AIM...AND A PRECISE HIT TO THE RIGHT WAVE" 🎯 perfectly captures the essence of this "SPORTS 304" radio! This 4-band radio receiver, powered by 9 transistors, was a must-have for tuning into your favorite stations. 🎶

This postcard, designed by the talented Alexander Utkin in 2017, brings a piece of Soviet nostalgia to life. The original script was penned by L. Mikhalevskiy, and the English translation was done by Dmitry Aleshin. It was printed by OOO Publishing House "KONTAKT-KULTURA" in 2017.

It's amazing how a simple radio could be advertised with such dynamic imagery and powerful words. 👇

A Radio Postcard Journey - 9

Imagine the music that filled the airwaves from this radio! Just received this charming postcard from James in the USA via Postcrossing, featuring a classic guitar and a vintage radio. It's like a little window into the past. The guitar has a "Lone Ranger" design, making me wonder about the stories it could tell. It features a 1937 guitar with incredible artwork of the Lone Ranger and Tonto, galloping under a moonlit sky. Apparently, there's a new book about "Cowboy Guitars" - I'm definitely going to look that up! Thanks, James, for sending a piece of history!
