Austrian Stamp Celebrates 170 Years of Sparkasse Niederösterreich Mitte West, Features Unique Building Pictorial Cancellation

ST. PÖLTEN, AUSTRIA - The Sparkasse Niederösterreich Mitte West (Savings Bank of Lower Austria, Middle West) is marking its 170th anniversary with the release of a special commemorative pictorial cancellation issued by Austrian Post. The cachet , alongside a striking pictorial cancellation featuring the bank's historic building, celebrates the institution's long-standing service to the community.

The stamp itself showcases a detailed illustration of two distinct mushroom species: the "Frauen-Täubling" (Russula cyanoxantha, or the "Dappled Bay Bolete") and the "Parasol" (Macrolepiota procera). While seemingly unconventional, the mushroom motif highlights Austria's rich biodiversity and perhaps symbolizes growth and stability, qualities associated with the bank's enduring presence. The stamp also features the anniversary dates, "1854" and "2024," and the "Österreich" (Austria) designation along with the denomination "95" (likely Euro cents).

What truly sets this issue apart is the unique pictorial cancellation. It depicts the bank's architecturally significant building in St. Pölten, a testament to the region's history and the bank's central role within it. The detailed rendering of the building within the circular cancellation adds a layer of local historical context to the stamp, making it particularly appealing to philatelists and residents of St. Pölten.

The double cancellation further enhances the stamp's collectible value. The standard postmark includes the date "14. Jänner 2025" (January 14, 2025) and "3100 St. Pölten," while the pictorial cancellation overlaps, showcasing the building's facade. Permanent Pictorial Cancellation for Chennai GPO

India Post is proud to announce the release of a Permanent Pictorial Cancellation on 6th February 2025 at 10:00 AM. The event will be graced by Mr. S. Ramakrishnan, a renowned Tamil writer and author of the acclaimed book "Thabak Petti Ezhuthiya Kaditham"(தபால்பெட்டி எழுதிய கடிதம்), as the Chief Guest.  

The Permanent Pictorial Cancellation is a special philatelic initiative that celebrates the rich cultural and historical heritage of Chennai GPO. This unique cancellation will be available for use on all outgoing mail from the Chennai G.P.O., offering philatelists and the general public an opportunity to own a piece of postal history.  

Mr. S. Ramakrishnan, a literary icon in Tamil literature, brings a special connection to the event through his celebrated work "A letter written by Postbox" (தபால்பெட்டி எழுதிய கடிதம்), which beautifully captures the essence of the postal box and its role in connecting lives. His presence as the Chief Guest underscores the cultural significance of this initiative.  

The Chennai G.P.O. invites philatelists, collectors, and the general public to join in this historic occasion and witness the unveiling of the Permanent Pictorial Cancellation.

அந்த வகையில் எனது ஐந்து frameகள் இந்த கண்காட்சியில் இடம் பெற உள்ளது. ஊடகம் தொடர்பாக 80, A4 பக்கங்களில் உலகம் முழுவதும் இருந்து வெளியிடப்பட்ட வானொலி, தொலைக்காட்சி, ஹாம் வானொலி, செயற்கைக்கோள் வானொலி, ஆண்டெனா, போன்றவற்றை மையப்படுத்திய தபால்தலைகள், முதல் நாள் கடித உறைகள், சிறப்பு அஞ்சல் உறைகள், Miniature Sheets, Traveled Envelopes போன்றவற்றை காட்சிப்படுத்தியுள்ளேன். 

அது மட்டுமல்லாது யாழினியும் தனது பங்கிற்கு, அச்சு மற்றும் நாளிதழ்களை மையப்படுத்தி 16 பக்கங்கள் கொண்ட ஒரு frameஐ காட்சிப்படுத்தியுள்ளார். எங்களைப் போன்று, இந்தியா முழுவதும் இருந்து பல சுவாரஷ்யமான தலைப்புகளில் 500க்கும் அதிகமான frameகள் இடம்பெற உள்ளது.

SIPA AMRITPEX AWARD

 I'm also thrilled to share that I recently won a Silver Medal at the SIPA AMRITPEX for my thematic exhibit, "Radio Broadcasting." This prestigious philatelic exhibition was held in Chennai and showcased the incredible world of stamps and postal history.

A Silver Lining: My Journey to AMRITPEX 2023

I'm thrilled to share that I won a Silver Bronze Medal at the AMRITPEX 2023 National Philatelic Exhibition for my thematic exhibit titled "Radio in the Podcasting Age." This exhibition was held from February 11th to 15th, 2023 at Hall No. 5, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.

My exhibit focused on the fascinating evolution of radio and its impact on the rise of podcasting. It showcased a collection of stamps, postcards, FDC, Miniature Sheets, Travel Envelopes and other philatelic items related to radio, broadcasting, and audio technology. I poured my heart and soul into curating this collection, and it was incredibly rewarding to see it recognized with this award.

Attending AMRITPEX 2023 was an unforgettable experience. I had the opportunity to meet fellow philatelists from all over India, learn about their collections, and share my own passion for this hobby. The exhibition was also a great opportunity to learn about the latest trends in philately and to connect with experts in the field.

I want to express my sincere gratitude to the jury and organizing committee of AMRITPEX 2023 for recognizing my work. I would also like to thank Mr.Rolands Nelson a senior philatelist and President of SIPA. I also thank my family and friends for their support and encouragement throughout this Philatelic journey.

Winning this award has only fueled my passion for philately. I'm already working on my next exhibit TANAPEX 2025, and I'm excited to share it with the world. I hope to continue representing India at international philatelic events and bringing home more honors for our country.

Chennai Philatelic Bureau Showcases Chennai-themed Postcards Ahead of TANAPEX 2025

In anticipation of the upcoming TANAPEX 2025 philatelic exhibition, the Philatelic Bureau located on Anna Salai in Chennai is currently hosting a special exhibit featuring over 180 postcards with Chennai-centric themes. This unique collection, curated by local philatelist Jaisakthivel, offers a fascinating glimpse into the city's rich history as seen through the lens of postcards.

The exhibition, which is open to the public for the next five days, provides a rare opportunity for stamp collectors and history enthusiasts to explore a wide range of postcards that depict various aspects of Chennai's past. From early issues to more recent commemoratives, the collection covers a broad chronological period and showcases the city's evolution over the centuries.

Situated directly opposite the iconic Devi Theatre, the Philatelic Bureau itself holds a special place in the city's cultural heritage. As South India's first-ever cinema hall, the this Theatre played a pivotal role in shaping Chennai's entertainment landscape. Today, the building serves as a dedicated service center for stamp collectors, a fitting tribute to the enduring appeal of philately.

"We are thrilled to be hosting this special exhibition in conjunction with TANAPEX 2025," said Jaisakthivel, the curator of the exhibit. "Chennai has a fascinating and storied past, and these postcards provide a tangible connection to that history. We invite everyone to come and explore this unique collection."

தமிழ்நாடு முழுவதும் அஞ்சல் தலை சேகரிப்பாளர்களை உற்சாகப்படுத்தும் TANAPEX 2025 நிகழ்வு சென்னையில் ஜனவரியில் நடைபெற உள்ள இந்த சிறப்பு தருணத்தில், சென்னையை மையமாகக் கொண்ட அஞ்சல் அட்டைகளின் அரிய கண்காட்சி அண்ணா சாலையில் உள்ள Philatelic Bureau-ல் காட்சிக்கு வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இந்த கண்காட்சியை தங்க.ஜெய்சக்திவேல் தனது தனிப்பட்ட சேகரிப்பிலிருந்து காட்சிக்கு வைத்துள்ளார்.

189-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட சென்னை தொடர்பான அஞ்சல் அட்டைகளை இக்கண்காட்சியில் காணலாம். சென்னையின் பழமை வாய்ந்த கட்டிடங்கள், தெருக்கள், பழக்கவழக்கங்கள் என சென்னையின் பல்வேறு அம்சங்களை பிரதிபலிக்கும் இந்த அஞ்சல் அட்டைகள், சென்னை வரலாற்றின் ஒரு பகுதியை நம் கண் முன் நிறுத்துகின்றன.

இந்த கண்காட்சி அமைந்துள்ள இடம், தேவி திரையரங்கத்திற்கு எதிரே உள்ளது. தென்னிந்தியாவின் முதல் திரையரங்கமாக புகழ்பெற்ற இந்த எலக்ட்ரிக் தியேட்டர், இன்று அஞ்சல் தலை சேகரிப்பாளர்களுக்கான சேவை மையமாக மாறியுள்ளது. இது வரலாறு மற்றும் தற்போதைய காலத்தை இணைக்கும் ஒரு அற்புதமான உதாரணமாகும்.

இந்த கண்காட்சி முயற்சி, அஞ்சல் தலை சேகரிப்பு என்ற ஓர் அரிய கலையை பொதுமக்களிடையே பரப்புவதற்கும், சென்னையின் வரலாற்றுப் பெருமையை அடுத்த தலைமுறையினருக்கு எடுத்துச் செல்வதற்கும் உதவும் என்பதில் ஐயமில்லை.
